Weekly Parent Update - Friday 21st November

A big well done also to our footballers with a big win of 5-1 in the second game and only narrowly losing 1-0 in the plate semi finals, in last week’s tournament at Kew and in this week’s Y5&6 District Cup football match against Coombe Hill, as well as the team at the Dodgeball competition at the Kingston Academy on Tuesday who had a great time, winning 3 out of their 5 games.

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

It’s been a busy week at Christ Church. We’ve had Year 4 on their bikes this week for their bikeability training and there's the beginnings of Christmas rehearsals in the air.

Hopefully, you were able to get along for our Learning Look yesterday, with the opportunity for your child to show off their learning. Don’t forget, if you didn’t get along, you can always get in touch with our teachers if you want any updates on their learning or progress.

We are only just a week away from our PTA Christmas Fair now, and I know our PTA team are working very hard to make it all happen. Please come along and support this event. Any help you can give in volunteering, whether in prep, on the day or in the clear up afterwards, is most appreciated; do let the PTA know. It is going to be a wonderful way to get your Christmas started for all the family!

We also have some staff news to share this week. After many years of dedicated and outstanding service to Christ Church New Malden, our wonderful School Business Manager, Ian Duncan, will be retiring in April 2026. We are deeply grateful for Ian’s exceptional commitment to managing our finances, premises, and support staff, ensuring the school runs smoothly and effectively every single day. While we will certainly miss his leadership and positive spirit, we are now seeking an exceptional, solution-focused professional to step into this Senior Leadership role and help shape the school's future success. If you or someone you know possesses strategic financial and operational management experience, and a passion for excellence in a supportive, community-focused, term-time-only role, please see the full details and application pack on our eTeach page: this will be available from next week. We look forward to welcoming a new leader to our team!

In the meantime, I hope you and your family enjoy this weekend, and keep warm in this chillier weather!

Clarification: School Streets Scheme

Please note that the trial School Street which has been introduced on Lime Grove is only between Poplar Grove and Coombe Road. This means that, with the exception of residents’ cars, no cars are permitted to drive down this section of Lime Grove at drop off and pick up times. Cars are still permitted, however, to drive along the section from Poplar Grove to Elm Road so please, as a reminder, can we ask that parents/carers do not walk with children in the middle of this road and keep to the pavements to ensure safety at all times.
