Weekly Parent Update - Friday 5th December

We are pleased to announce our charities for the coming year, which our junior pupil leadership team have been talking about.
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
It’s been a very festive week at Christ Church, and we really got into the Christmas spirit last Saturday at our Christmas Fair. Thank you so much to so many of our parents who gave up time and energy to help in all sorts of different ways on the day, and before. We had a good number of people coming along and joining in the fun. In particular, a big thank you to Kendra Hayes-Pang and Jason Fernandes in pulling the whole event together, and coordinating all the work. It was a great testament to a great team and community. We are pleased to announce that the provisional figure for our fund raising last Saturday is £7,722.
We are also pleased to announce our charities for the coming year, which our junior pupil leadership team have been talking about. There will be an opportunity to begin giving to these charities in our charity buckets day on 10th December. You may want to talk to your children as to which bucket they’d like to put their money in on Wednesday. Here are details of our charities:
- Kingston Young Carers - Supporting the needs of children aged 5 to 18 with caring responsibilities for someone ill or disabled in their family in the borough of Kingston
- Princess Alice Hospice - Caring for patients and families through illness and bereavement.
- National Autistic Society - Working to change lives and attitudes to help create a society that works for autistic people.
You will also be aware that this term we launched our ‘smartphone free’ initiative for our school in line with the recommendations from the SFC campaign. Please give us any feedback you have here on this policy change so far. Our SFC champions will be organising another parents’ meeting in the new term as an opportunity to join the conversation, so look out for this.
As mentioned last week, Ian Duncan, our School Business Manager, is retiring next Spring. This post is now being advertised, so if you or someone you know possesses strategic financial and operational management experience, and a passion for excellence in a supportive, community-focused, term-time-only role, please see the full details and application pack on our eTeach page.
As Christmas gets closer, I hope you have a lovely weekend, and enjoy some more festive preparations for the season!
