Weekly Parent Update - Friday 30th January
Year 2, 4 and 5 journeyed through time on Monday in their interactive workshops, reenacting the Great Fire of London, and then travelling to Roman and Viking times.
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
There has been a lot going on this week at Christ Church, which started with an exciting journey through time on Monday; we had interactive workshops going on through the day, reenacting the Great Fire of London, and then travelling to Roman and Viking times. Year 2, 4 and 5 enjoyed these sessions, and it certainly brought their history learning alive. Today, we’re also looking forward to Gazelle’s class worship, which (I’ve heard!) is taking a ‘Traitors’ theme!
It is now six months since PS Catering joined us at Christ Church to provide our school meals. This week, they met with representatives from every year group from Year 1, including the junior PLT representatives, to do some food tasting and help set their new Spring menu. A food tasting session for parents will be later in the year, more details to follow.
Something else to look forward to … A lovely event we introduced to the school calendar last year was the Junior Talent Show, which was for any junior child who would like a moment to shine in front of a friendly Christ Church audience. We are pleased to announce that we are repeating this event this year, and it will be held on Wednesday 18th March. This year, Miss Brown is heading this up. Please see the attached letter for details.
Lastly, a reminder we currently are advertising for vacancies at the school, including for our new residential site manager. Do pass on to anyone who may be interested or come to chat to us.
In the meantime, get ready to welcome February this weekend.

Year 3/4- Soloist Concert - Tuesday March 10th in the Junior Hall 9am
If your child plays an instrument or sings and they would like to take part, they can send in an audition video to Mrs Bond (lucy.bond@ccnm.uk) by 20th February (but sooner if possible). This will then give the teachers time to look through all of the auditions to choose a variety of performances for the concert, and allow time for rehearsing at school with the piano if needed. Parents and the children's classmates will be invited to watch the concert. Please aim to keep the pieces short. If your child chooses a song, stick to one or two verses and a chorus. Also, please ensure the lyrics are appropriate and that the song can be sung easily by a child (some pop songs are unsuitable for young voices). The children may sing in a group with friends if they can arrange a video audition together. We will be available to accompany instrumental pieces and songs if we can find the music (or you can send in a backing track). Please note that this concert is only for children in Years 3 and 4.
Prayer Group
Once a term, there is an opportunity for staff, parents, governors and friends of the school to get together to pray for our school. This happens in the creative space at the juniors, and this term will be Wed 4th February at 6pm. We usually gather for about 30 minutes and all are welcome.
STEM Lunch - Volunteers Needed
We're hosting a series of STEM Lunch and Learn events where parents with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) expertise share their experiences with the children. If you work or volunteer in a relevant sector we would love to hear from you. Please email the school office with your name, role/profession and they will contact you with more information. Do also pass this invitation to anyone you know who might be able to help. Help inspire our future innovators!
