Weekly Parent Update - Thursday 25th June

Due to the heat this week we’ve adapted in all sorts of creative ways whilst trying to keep things as normal as possible, and keep open for business. We have needed to cancel, move and postpone some curriculum events, so thank you for your flexibility.

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

What a fantastic day we had on Saturday, and there was a wonderful vibe in our PTA Summer Fair. The weather was kind to us as well, and we were blessed with a beautiful day.

I cannot thank our PTA enough, especially our co-chairs Kendra and Jason who worked tirelessly to make it a success. Thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers who gave of their time in set up, during the fair and in the clear up. A big thank you to staff who gave of their time as well, especially Mrs Bond who worked the choir hard and Mr O’Connor, who was on site all day, always around to help out.

You do not need me to tell you that it has been a very hot one this week, and we’ve adapted in all sorts of creative ways whilst trying to keep things as normal as possible, and keep open for business. We have needed to cancel, move and postpone some curriculum events, so thank you for your flexibility. I also would like to thank our staff for their resilience and flexibility - it has not been an easy week.

Our week included our final Charity Tuesday, which was in aid of Kingston Young Carers. Thank you for your donations, and we were able to raise £146.45. Thank you for your support all year for our focus charities that our Pupil Leadership Team chose.

Next week, it’s our final Learning Look, straight after school on Thursday, so do join us if you can so the children can show off their learning to you.

We are also looking forward to our Year 6 production of The Wizard of Oz next week. We’ve been trying to do some rehearsal, though the heatwave has curtailed some rehearsing!

Have a lovely weekend and remember the children can cool off tomorrow instead of being at school!

Our School Updates for Parents

Junior Choir

Please can we remind you that choir is still taking place for the next two weeks. Although there is no performance we will be singing mostly fun, clapping and action, playground type songs and we may spend some of choir outside. Also on Tuesday 30th we are doing a small performance of Oliver to the juniors during singing worship so please can children come in their costumes and bring their school clothes to change into.

Carol Mitchell

Last week, we shared with you the sad news of the passing of Carol Mitchell, a much loved, long-standing teaching assistant at Christ Church. We will be organising a fun charity event at the juniors for the children, in aid of Princess Alice Hospice in the last week of term. More details will follow on this.
