At Christ Church, we believe music education is a vital part of a child's development, fostering creativity, discipline, and confidence. In addition to our weekly music lessons, we are proud to partner with the Kingston Music Service (KMS) to offer high-quality instrumental lessons right here at school.

KMS is the primary provider of music tuition in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and offers a wide range of instrument lessons taught by experienced and professional tutors.

What's On Offer

Children at both our Infant (Reception–Year 2) and Junior (Year 3–Year 6) sites can access music tuition through KMS. Lessons are typically offered as:

• Individual Lessons: One-on-one tuition tailored specifically to your child’s needs and pace.
• Small Group Lessons: Instruction for 2-3 pupils, which is a great way for children to learn alongside friends and often offers a more affordable option.

Lessons take place during the school day, and the class teacher will be notified of the timetable. 

Instruments and Logistics

KMS offers tuition for a wide range of instruments, including:

• Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello
• Woodwind: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone
• Brass: Trumpet, Trombone, Cornet
• Percussion: Drum Kit
• Other: Guitar, Keyboard/Piano

Please note: Availability may vary depending on tutor availability at each site. All tuition, billing and scheduling are managed directly by Kingston Music Service.

How to Apply for Lessons

All applications for instrumental lessons must be made directly through the Kingston Music Service online booking system. Visit the KMS website to complete the online application form, selecting Christ Church New Malden as your child's school and specifying your chosen instrument and lesson type (individual or group). KMS will process your application, confirm tutor availability, and send you details regarding the start date and fees.
