Weekly Bulletin - Friday 1st July

One of our highlights this week were the fantastic performances by Year 6 in their tale of Robin Hood and his merry men, 'Hoodwinked'.

We have reached the stage of term where there are performances galore! I have been wowed by Year 6’s tale of Robin Hood and his merry men, Hoodwinked. I was so impressed by the way the children masterminded the whole performance, hosting it with a welcome and a final greeting, managing all the props and backdrops, singing beautifully, dancing energetically and acting expressively. Today, we were entertained by not one, but two music concerts. Visitors to our school were blown away by the standard of the performances and the confidence shown by the children. What a privilege it was to be able to watch.

There have also been a number of trips this week; on Tuesday Antelope class were enthralled in their science lesson at Coombe Girls’ and our Year 3 footballers had a narrow defeat at Green Lane. On Thursday our Y2 and Y4 swimming gala teams had great fun at Coombe Hill Infants whilst Year 6 enjoyed a visit from Lavender Hill magistrates. Lastly, Potter class went on a Geography walk around New Malden this morning - thank you to all our parent helpers who accompanied them.

You can see pictures of some of this month’s activities in our newsletter here.

We were also awarded an ‘Attachment Aware Schools Award, 2022’ this week, in recognition of our commitment to supporting children who have had significant relational traumas and to helping all members of the school community in developing positive, understanding relationships. I was asked to give a presentation to staff from Kingston, Richmond and Maidenhead about the way we have created ‘welcome leaders’ to welcome newcomers to the school. The credit really goes to our Junior children who brainstormed the ideas (including gorgeous teddy bears sporting our logo), minuted their decisions and emailed all staff, and to the children who have stepped forward to be welcome leaders.
