Governors' Fund Appeal

Enhancing our school to ensure all children become the people God made them to be

The Governors' Fund gives parents a fantastic way of supporting the school and enhancing the opportunities for every child with a regular, monthly donation. This supports the school in delivering a high quality education through a broad and balanced curriculum and supporting the school with exciting new projects. It enables us to access extra funding, which is only available to church schools. Any gifts to the Governors' Fund can be Gift-Aided, so any regular donations you make will be worth 25% more to the school. Thank you for supporting the Governors' Fund and making a real difference to the children.

Why donate?

The Governors’ Fund is used to fund two key areas:

  • Delivering enhancements to the School’s technology, such as the provision of an individual Chromebook for each Junior child.
  • Contributions towards important premises projects. To access extra funding only available to church schools we need to contribute 10% of the funding. For example, in recent years we’ve funded a £150,000 refurbishment of the Infant roof and, with the PTA, built a fantastic new play area at the Infants. This wouldn't have been possible without the contribution of the Governors' Fund.
What's next?
  • Redeveloping the front of the Infant Site to make it more secure and into an area that children can use during the school day, with new equipment and resources.
  • Renovating the school playing field to encourage more exercise and sporting activities and hopefully raise money by letting it out for community use.
What is the difference between the Governors’ Fund and the PTA?

The PTA and Governors’ Fund both work towards achieving the same objective – advancing the education and experience of children in our school. However, the Governors’ Fund is independent of the PTA funds and its activities. As you know, our wonderful PTA provides events to enhance the school community, fundraise and encourage parent participation within the school, whereas the Governors’ Fund is reliant on donations.

How do I donate?

We ask parents to set up a regular monthly donation to the Governors’ Fund. This spreads the cost for you and helps us to understand our future income and plan major investments. You can also make payments via the School Shop on Arbor.

How much should I donate?

Donating is entirely voluntary. However, the more families that give the more we can do to support the school’s enhancement plans.  We ask you to consider contributing of £7.50 per child per month (£90 per year) to the Governors’ Fund.  We know that some parents want to give much more, and we also know that for some parents, this is too much – so please only give whatever you can afford.  If every family contributed the recommended amount, we could raise over £49,000 per year, including 25% gift aid – and this all goes towards your children and their learning.

How can I donate tax efficiently?

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your donation go 25% further through Gift Aid at no extra cost to you. That means for every £90 donation, we can claim an extra £22.50. Just complete a quick online Gift Aid Declaration form.

If you are a higher-rate taxpayer, you can claim tax relief on charitable donations – donating £10 only costs you £6. You may also be able to donate pre-tax using payroll giving schemes or through salary or bonus sacrifice.
