Weekly Parent Update - Friday 23rd May
Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Kingston Museum on Thursday for their Saxon workshop, immersing themselves in the lives and artefacts of the Anglo-Saxons.
Weekly Update from Mr Burkinshaw
It’s been another full week at Christ Church! The week started with our Year 6 worship leaders, leading us in collective worship on Monday. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to Charity Tuesday; the children had a brilliant time decorating their white socks and we’re delighted to say that we raised £439.39 for Tearfund – thank you for your generosity!
Year 5 brought a little piece of France to Christ Church this week by hosting a delightful French breakfast for their parents. With croissants, greetings en français and beautiful table settings, it was a lovely opportunity to share their learning in a meaningful and memorable way. The Y5 cricket team were also in action on Tuesday, reaching the quarter finals of the Kingston Primary Schools Dynamos Cricket competition.
Meanwhile, Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Kingston Museum for their Saxon workshop, immersing themselves in the lives and artefacts of the Anglo-Saxons. Later that day, Eagle class took us back to the Romans, explained volcanoes and demonstrated their understanding of sound in their wonderful and confident class worship.
This morning’s SEND Coffee Morning provided a great opportunity for parents to see our sensory circuit in action – thank you to all who came along. We’re also looking forward to seeing many of you this afternoon at our OPAL Stay and Play at the juniors – it’s always a joy to share how much fun children are having at playtimes.
Thanks to everyone who came to Wednesday’s prayer meeting. It was encouraging to see so many from the community come together to pray for the school.
Next half-term, we are excited about our first Poetry Recital and Story Telling competition. There is more information in the class emails, but if your child is looking for poems to recite, there are a good selection at The Children’s Poetry Archive and Poetry by Heart.
Have a lovely half-term.
Our School Updates for Parents
Online Safety reminders
It has come up in a few conversations recently with some children and their parents regarding children accessing age-inappropriate video material at home or playing computer games that are aimed at older young people, for example Fortnite. You may want to ensure you have all the appropriate online safety protections at home and here is a helpful information sheet you can find on our website regarding the use of Fortnite.
