Weekly Parent Update - Friday 14th November

Yesterday, Leopard class led our first class worship of the year. We were hosted by several “old” Y6s in their nursing home, reminiscing about WW2!

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

It’s been a busy week at Christ Church. Although Monday started wet and dreary, the weather was kind for the annual New Malden Remembrance parade on Sunday (some photos here), where four of our Year 6 children, Jakov, Ellie, Izzy and Poppy took part in the parade, as well as Bella and Paula being the Kingston Mayor’s wreath bearers. Thank you to all who took part. We marked remembrance also with all our children in school on Tuesday with a time of silence.

Additionally, this week has been National Anti-Bullying Week, with the theme ‘Power for Good’. Our Pupil Leadership Team introduced this in collective worship at both infants and juniors on Monday and all the colourful odd socks on Monday were a welcome bit of colour and fun around the school.

We are also grateful for some design ideas for our new ‘Nook’ at the juniors; this week two of our parent experts in interior design (thanks to Kim Plummer and Lindsay Bosonotto) met the pupil leadership team to discuss ideas. Thank you again for your patience as work continues on our new boundary fence outside the infant site - it is great to see the fence beginning to appear!

In staffing news, we have welcomed in the last couple of weeks Mrs Forey to our Starfish Nursery, as Miss Dusting has now taken up her role as Sports Coach in the school. We have also welcomed Mr Mallett to the juniors, who is here on Mondays and Wednesdays, working as a mentor for KICK, a partner Church of England organisation.

Yesterday, Leopard class led our first class worship of the year. We were hosted by several “old” Y6s in their nursing home, reminiscing about WW2! With their confidence clear, the children also told us about our hearts and circulation. Well done, Leopard class.

Finally, we hope to see many of you at our ‘Learning Look’ next Thursday, when our classrooms will be open from pick up until 4:30pm for your children to show off their learning and invite you in. Drop in with your children as you are able to during this time to see their books and learning environment. Your child’s class teacher will be there to welcome you and your child.

Despite the wet weather, do have a lovely weekend.

Our School Updates for Parents

Urgent call out! Looking for a brick-layer

As parents will know, we are looking to make the white wall in the junior playground in to a new colourful ‘Ways to Be’ wall - and we’ve been asking for ideas from the children. A parent has offered to paint the wall and get it ready for this, but unfortunately, we have discovered that the top few layers of the wall first need to be properly reconstructed as there is too much damage and wear from time. We are keen to progress this project, so wanted to put a shout out in case there are any parents/families in the bricklaying trade who could help with this first initial work. Please speak to Mr Duncan or just pop in to the school office if you would like to help or give us a quote for the work.
