Weekly Parent Update - Friday 17th April

Our iShare Learning theme for the first half of the term is “We Are Family,” inspired by this Bible verse from 1 John: “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.”

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

Welcome back to the summer term! I hope you all enjoyed a restful and refreshing break. It is a real joy to begin this new term together, and there is already a wonderful sense of energy and anticipation around the school.

Our iShare Learning theme for the first half of the term is “We Are Family,” inspired by this Bible verse from 1 John: “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.” This verse reminds us of the deep value, belonging, and care that sit at the heart of our Christian community. Each and every one of our children is known, loved, and cherished, and together we form a family built on kindness, respect, and shared purpose.

As always, we are incredibly proud of our pupils and the many ways they shine—whether through their learning, their creativity, their resilience, or the way they support one another. This term promises to be full of opportunities to celebrate these achievements, both big and small.

We have an exciting few weeks ahead, with a wide range of events, activities, and moments to come together as a school family; this includes news of our next Charity Tuesday next week, celebrating the National Autistic Society which you can read about below. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It is a privilege to work in partnership with you and to be part of such a caring and vibrant community.

We welcome this term to our school family some new members of staff. Our new site manager, Mr O’Connor, a former pupil of the school, took up his new role on Monday and was introduced to the children in collective worship. This week, we also welcomed to the school new TAs Miss Brown, Mrs Wilson and Miss Shepperson joins us as a new lunchtime supervisor at the juniors. We also welcome Ms Qazi, who continues to support in Lion class and Ms Edwards in Turtle class this term.

Also, from this term, Mrs Forey has taken over as breakfast club and Connect manager and our new business manager, Mrs Churms, is now doing some handover work with Mr Duncan over the next couple of weeks, before he retires and Mrs Churms takes up the role full-time from 1st May.

Please note that I will be undertaking jury service over the next couple of weeks, which may mean I am less visible in school at times. Please be assured that Mr Burkinshaw and the leadership team will continue to oversee the day-to-day running of the school as normal, and I hope to be in school where this is possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Finally, we also are launching today our parent survey. Please take a few moments over the next two weeks to complete to tell us what you like about our school and any development points that we can consider over this term, and the year ahead.

With all my very best wishes for the term ahead. Have a lovely weekend.

Our School Updates for Parents

Charity Tuesday - Next Tuesday 21st

Next week is our next Charity Tuesday, this time supporting the National Autistic Society. All children should come dressed colourfully, which means they can choose the clothes that they wear, the more colourful the better. Children will be collecting donations in house coloured buckets before school on Tuesday, and we hope to at least equal the £451 we raised for Princess Alice last term. As an extra incentive each house will be given the same amount of points as the pounds raised, so be careful which bucket you put your donation in!

All the children from Reception to Y6 will be taking part in a “5K” walk

  • Reception and Y1 will walk around the field at the Infants (for less than 5K).
  • Y2 will join the Juniors for a walk along the Cut.
  • The Juniors will continue along Beeline Way and back again.

You are welcome to join us, or cheer us on, for some or all of the walk. We will be leaving the Juniors at 9.30am.

Thank You from Mr & Mrs Allum

“Dear Parents and Children, We would like to say a heartfelt thank you for all our wonderful gifts, kind messages and warm wishes we received as we retire. We have been truly overwhelmed by your generosity and thoughtfulness...it has meant so much to us! It was not easy to say goodbye after so many happy years. We will greatly miss being part of such a caring and supportive school community and we will especially miss seeing you and your families each day. Working with your children has been an absolute joy and a privilege. They have made every day rewarding and we will carry many many special memories with us into our next chapter. Thank you once again for your kindness and support over the years. We leave with full hearts and deep gratitude. With our very best wishes Derek and Lindsay Allum xxx”

Support Our School through the Governors' Fund

The Governors' Fund is a simple yet powerful way for parents to support the school and enrich every child's learning experience. For example, your donations help provide every Junior child with a Chromebook and allows us to access extra funding exclusive to church schools. Plus, donations can be Gift-Aided, increasing their value by 25% at no extra cost to you. While the PTA organises fundraising events and community activities, the Governors' Fund relies solely on direct donations to support essential school improvements. We’ve made donating quicker, easier, and more convenient so you just click the Donate button on the school website. We ask parents to set up a regular monthly donation to spread the cost and allow the school to plan ahead, but any contribution is greatly appreciated.
