Weekly Parent Update - Friday 5th June

Our iShare Learning theme is “Guidance for the Journey,” inspired by Proverbs 3:5–6: “With all your heart, you must trust the Lord, and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow”. This theme encourages our children to reflect on the importance of trust, wisdom and seeking guidance in their daily lives.
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
I hope you had a lovely half term, and your family was able to get out and enjoy the summery weather (if you could cope with the heat!). We have an exciting seven weeks ahead, with much to look forward to.
As we enter the final part of the academic year, our iShare Learning theme is “Guidance for the Journey,” inspired by Proverbs 3:5–6: “With all your heart, you must trust the Lord, and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow”. This theme encourages our children to reflect on the importance of trust, wisdom and seeking guidance in their daily lives. We will be exploring how we can make thoughtful choices, support one another, and look to God for direction as we continue our journey together. We hope this will be a meaningful opportunity for our whole school community to grow in confidence and compassion, looking to our future positively.
We are enjoying the children sharing their poetry recital entries in their classes over this week, and thank you for your help in supporting your children with this. It was also lovely to visit Year 5 earlier in the week - to talk about opportunities to apply for the important Year 6 roles of worship leader and pupil leader. Congratulations also to all children who performed in the Year 5 and 6 summer concert, sharing their musical talent with us. Thanks to Mrs Bond for organising this.
Thank you for all your donations today for the PTA Summer Fair, which is now getting close - come and join in the fun on Sat 20th June 1-4pm. The classes which brought in the most donations today were Turtle at the infants and Tiger and Antelope at the juniors and will enjoy some extra play next week! Our next opportunity for donations is next Friday (see below).
We also have a team of volunteers from EARNT coming to work on our school sites tomorrow and help with some practical jobs, with support from Mr O’Connor and Jason and Kendra, our PTA leads. We look forward to welcoming this team of volunteers, helping us with some clearing rubbish, weeding, sweeping, painting and all sorts.
Also next week, we are privileged to have a special visitor coming to our school, Liberal Democrat Leader and local MP Ed Davey, who is visiting on Thursday to meet the pupil leadership team and have a Q&A assembly with the junior children.
In the meantime, have a lovely weekend!
Our School Updates for Parents
PTA Mufti Days
We are looking forward to our Summer Fair on Saturday 20th June. There are still two more days when children can bring in things for the fair:
- Friday 12th June (Break the Rules Day) - for every rule the children break, children should bring in soft toys (in good condition), household items, toys, games, books, new cosmetics and crafted items.
- Friday 19th June - children should bring in cakes and baked goods, homemade or bought and the house that brings in the most will have extra play.
In addition, from last Monday, you can post your small party bag style toys through the post boxes in both receptions and, from today, parents can pick up the empty goodie bags to fill with nut-free sweets. All the information is on this countdown poster.
Reminder: Message from PS Catering
Following on from the success of the parent taster session we have met with the class rep parents and the Senior Leadership Team and it was felt that it would really be beneficial if you, the parents, had the opportunity to experience the school catering in person FREE OF CHARGE. During the summer term there are a number of day trips which means that the usually packed dining room will have some spaces.
We would therefore like to take the opportunity to invite one parent per family (from Years 3, 4 & 5) to come in to experience the food that your children have the opportunity to eat on a daily basis. To ensure there is availability we have three dates booked and have allocated one year group per day. These are as follows:
- Year 3 - Wednesday 10th June
- Year 5 – Monday 15th June
- Year 4 – Thursday 9th July
Menus are available on the school website so you are able to see what will be on offer on the day. Please can you complete the form sent via email, if you haven’t already done so, in order to secure your place.
