Weekly Parent Update - Friday 19th June

On Tuesday, our Year 3s and some of our Year 4s took part in the annual country dancing festival at Kingsmeadow Stadium; it was a beautiful day of dancing and celebration.

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

It’s been another full week at Christ Church. It was lovely again to welcome some of our parents to a lunch service, this time parents of our Year 5 pupils. Some junior children also took part in a food tasting session this week, as PS catering plan out their Autumn menu! We’re also welcoming the manager of PS Catering to our forthcoming class reps meeting later this month.

Yesterday and today, we’ve held the poetry competition finals in the infants and juniors respectively. My thanks to our judging panel for both events and all parents who supported their children in practising and rehearsing. All the finalists did a grand job, and all children who entered and shared their poems and stories with their class can all be proud of themselves - the standard was so high! A special mention to our winners … James Mills, Keziah Robinson and Marina Karimi at the infants, Holly Albert, Fletcher Hamman and Nathaniel Cook at the juniors. Thank you also to the PTA who sponsored the competition and provided book token prizes for winners.

Also this week, our Year 3s and some of our Year 4s took part in the annual country dancing festival at Kingsmeadow Stadium; it was a beautiful day of dancing and celebration. My thanks to Mrs Brooks and the team for rehearsing our children to be ready for this lovely event. Not only this, but we have teams out today and yesterday for sports events, and some of our Year 5 and 6 children enjoyed being part of the Singing Festival at the Rose Theatre on Tuesday. All of this is part of our broad curriculum to ensure children are ‘achieving widely’ with plenty of opportunities to shine.

Our Year 5 pupil leader candidates have also begun their campaigns this week to become next year’s ‘Pupil Leaders’. Next week, they will be delivering their campaign speeches to the juniors before the secret ballot election takes place. Their campaign posters are already up today at the juniors. Good luck to them all! They can already be proud of getting this far.

Tomorrow is one of the highlights of the school year …Our PTA summer Fair! This exciting event is on our junior site between 1-4pm. Please do come along and support all the hard work that goes into it by the PTA committee and all their volunteers. It is always a highlight of the school calendar, so hopefully see you there … and the weather forecast (at the time of writing!) looks good.
