Weekly Parent Update - Friday 10th May

Our Year 3s had a great time at the Natural History Museum yesterday, particularly enjoying the earthquake simulator and robot T-rex!

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

I hope you had an enjoyable bank holiday weekend, though Monday seemed to be one long drizzle, sadly. At least we’ve enjoyed some good sunny weather since then! This good weather gets us in the mood to think about our Summer Fair coming up on 8th June. There is only one more week for the children to enter the competition to design the winning poster. All details are here. Entries by next Friday please and we’ll announce the winner next week.

We’ve been out and about this week. Sadly, the train strike got in the way of the planned Year 4 French trip, which was a great shame. However, our Year 5s got up to the Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday and enjoyed watching a show by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; I understand there were times of calm and relaxing music in this, as well as times of loud audience participation! Our Year 3s enjoyed the Natural History Museum trip yesterday, and were all buzzing about it. Arthur enjoyed the earthquake simulator, Jasmine said she really enjoyed looking at the crystals and for Zikra it was the robot T-rex that stole the show.

A big well done also to Macaw class on a super class worship yesterday, which they presented so confidently. They can all be very proud! The children gave a very knowledgeable and comprehensive summary of their learning in very engaging and creative ways.

We are today launching a short parent survey, which we would very much appreciate all parents taking a little bit of time to complete. All feedback is always helpful, and will guide us in our future planning into the next academic year and beyond. The survey only has three simple questions, and will only take moments to fill in. Please fill in the survey sent via email.  Thank you for your help with this!

We wish our Year 6 children every success next week, as it is the national “SATs” week. I know they have been working very hard towards these and we are grateful to our caterers Nourish, who will be making sure on each of the four mornings of the tests that the children begin with a good breakfast.

Have a lovely weekend!

There’s a Tiger on the Train by Mariesa Dulak, illustrated by Rebecca Cobb

On an extraordinary journey to the sea, a tiger boards the train, along with a jungle of other animals – all without dad even looking up from his phone! I really enjoyed sharing this story with Reception, we imagined the animals we might meet on the train.
