Weekly Parent Update - Friday 17th May

Congratulations to our Year 6 students for their hard work and dedication during this week’s SATs tests. They finished their week with a well earned trip to the park!

Weekly Update from Mr Burkinshaw

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 students for their hard work and dedication during this week’s SATs tests. These assessments are a significant milestone in their academic journey, and they have approached them with their typical determination and resilience. We are proud of them all and hope you will join us in congratulating them on their accomplishments and wish them a well deserved and restful weekend!

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting charitable causes, we are thrilled to announce that our next Charity Tuesday is next Tuesday 21st May. On that day, we will be raising awareness and funds for Momentum, a charity that provides invaluable support to families of children with cancer, offering practical and emotional assistance during difficult times, as well as making children’s wards. On Tuesday:

  • Meet Mo Children will be able to get a selfie with Mo the owl, before school (8:30-8:45) at the infants and after school (3:20-3:35) at the juniors.
  • Coffee Morning (with no coffee) Please send your child in with a nut-free sweet snack or biscuit. Children will have the opportunity to have a mini coffee morning (with no coffee!) with their class.
  • Wear Green Children can wear something green, Momentum’s colour.

There will be collection buckets outside both sites on Tuesday morning, so do remember to bring your notes and coins. Together, we can make a difference!

Your feedback is incredibly important to us, as we strive to continuously improve our school community. Last week, we shared details of our brief parent survey where you can share your thoughts, suggestions, and concerns regarding various aspects of our school. Thank you to everyone who has responded so far, your input will help shape our plans for next year. For those of you yet to complete the survey, do remember, if you put your name on your survey response you will be entered into a draw for a £25 John Lewis voucher.

We are also pleased to announce today the winner of the PTA Summer Fair Poster competition was Finn Seymour in Fox class. He wins a £15 book voucher, courtesy of the PTA and his design will be displayed everywhere to promote our Summer Fair! Here is the winning design. As we had an overwhelming number of entries for this competition, we’ll also be displaying some of the other best ‘highly commended’ entries at the entrance to the infant site next week as well, as there were so many lovely ideas! Thanks to all who took part.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Science Week

Coming up after half term, we are planning an exciting science week in the w/b 17th June. There will be more detail on this nearer the time, but to whet your appetite, one thing we will be doing during this week is taking the whole school, from Year 1 upwards to the Science Museum! Years 3-6 on Tuesday 18th June and Year 1 and 2 on Wednesday 19th June. We’ll let you know more about these exciting events after half-term, but do save the date if you are able to volunteer on either or both trips.
