Weekly Parent Update - Friday 7th June

Turtle class impressed us yesterday with their class worship on mini beasts, where we learnt about pollination, saving the bees and looking after butterflies.

Weekly Update from Mr Meehan

Welcome back after the half term! I hope you and your family had a good week with some nice times together.

We are now into a very busy portion of the year, and already there’s been a lot going on this week. Year 6 got their week started with their visit to the magistrates court. Turtle class impressed yesterday with their class worship all about their minibeasts learning, with some excellent singing! My thanks to Mrs Burkinshaw for masterminding our ‘orienteering’ at the infants, in which the children enjoyed being geographical detectives. Congrats also to all our wonderful performers in our soloists concert this morning at the juniors, and to Mrs Bond for organising this.

In other news, big “felicitations” to Lynx Class who have been selected as regional winners for the French Pop Video "Ma journée est très bonne" they submitted, and will now take part in the final of the French Pop Video Competition! My thanks to Mrs Robinson, who made this happen.

To look forward to, we also have our Science Week, our Well-being Week and the infant and junior sports days, to mention just a few things.

We are saying goodbye to Miss King next week, as she moves on to new things. We thank her for all her work with us over the last two years, and I know the children will miss her.

I hope to see many of you at our Summer Fair, hopefully in the sunshine, tomorrow at our infant site. Please do come and support and bring your friends! We are raising money for the development of our junior playground, and the ideas which have already been shared with you. You can also see our new nurture garden area, which a parents’ working party have put together to replace what was the old pig-pen. So come along to what promises to be a fun event! I know the PTA committee have been working very hard to make it all happen and would love to see you there.

Love that dog by Sharon Creech

This is a lovely book about a boy who doesn't really get poetry and thinks it is a waste of time. His teacher, Miss Stretchberry, encourages him to have a go at telling his own story as a poem. As he goes on, he begins to love poetry and creates a poem about his dog. It works on so many levels and is very funny to boot.

Back in July 2019, Christ Church held its first ever Pet Service. Attended by 38 dogs plus other pets, this was a huge success, with everyone agreeing it should be an annual event.
