Weekly Parent Update - Friday 8th November
We have just started our new iShare Learning theme, ‘A Fair Share’, focused around this Bible verse: God loves justice and fairness, and he is kind to everyone everywhere on earth. (Psalm 33 v5).
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
It’s been so good to get started after half term; I hope you and your family had a good time over last week, maybe including some light celebrations! This is a lovely part of the school year, as we (always rather rapidly) head towards Christmas.
It’s been a great week at Christ Church, which has included our first class-led worship of the year. A huge well done to Leopard class, who gave us a real treat. They reflected on much of their learning so far this year, and also gave us an introduction to next week’s National Anti-Bullying Week. This special week this year takes the theme of ‘Choose Respect’ - which is in line with our ‘Ways to Be’. Our Pupil Leaders are leading an assembly on Monday about this, and we are having an ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Tuesday to demonstrate how we value and celebrate difference. We’ll also be marking Remembrance on Monday in school, and some of our Year 6 pupils are also taking part in the wreath-bearing, as part of the New Malden Remembrance Parade this Sunday (see below).
We have also just started our new iShare Learning theme, ‘A Fair Share’, focused around this Bible verse: God loves justice and fairness, and he is kind to everyone everywhere on earth. (Psalm 33 v5). As part of our thoughts for this theme, our Pupil Leadership Team will be helping us set out three charities for the year ahead, which we will support on Christmas Jumper Day and throughout Spring and Summer with our ‘Charity Tuesdays’.
It was good to meet with our class reps during the week, and we discussed themes such as the outdoor sites, home/school communications and lunches, among other things. It is always helpful to hear feedback and we are thankful for this input and the ideas shared. In terms of home/school links, don’t forget our Learning Look coming up later this month, on Thurs 21st November between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
We were also pleased to finally get the news over half term that planning permission has now been granted for our boundary fence at the front of our infant site; having put in for planning permission for this three times over the last 18 months, this is great news, and we will now be in discussion with our building consultant to make this happen shortly.
In the meantime, have a great weekend, especially if you are enjoying some firework parties!
