School Meals and Packed Lunches

At Christ Church, we believe that lunchtime is an important part of the school day - a time to enjoy nutritious food, develop independence and social skills, and take a well-earned break.

We are committed to ensuring that all children have access to healthy, balanced meals that support their learning and wellbeing.

School Meals

We’re delighted to announce that PS Catering has been awarded the school catering contract starting 1st September 2025. After a thorough and competitive selection process, including a visit to Malden Manor (one of their local schools) they were chosen for offering the best combination of quality and value not the lowest price.

The school is making a significant investment in this service because we believe PS Catering will deliver the highest standard of food, presentation, and support. We’re confident this partnership will enhance the lunchtime experience for all our children.

Meals, designed to meet the School Food Standards are freshly prepared on site each day:

  • Healthy and nutritionally balanced
  • Catered to meet allergies and dietary needs
  • Offered with a choice of hot main courses (including vegetarian options), sides and desserts
  • Designed to encourage children to try new foods in a welcoming dining environment

Menus are on a rotating 3 week cycle and are shared with parents via newsletters and the school website. Please contact the school office if you would like a printed copy or support with dietary information.

Free School Meals for All Children

We are delighted that all children in our school can receive a free, healthy school lunch every day thanks to two government-funded initiatives:

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals, regardless of income.

All children in Years 3 to 6 currently receive free school meals funded by the Mayor of London for the 2024–2025 school year.

Packed Lunches

If you prefer, your child is welcome to bring a packed lunch from home. We ask that all packed lunches are:

  • Healthy and balanced, supporting your child’s energy and focus
  • Nut-free, as we have several children with severe nut allergies
  • Stored in a clearly named lunchbox or bag

Please avoid including fizzy drinks, chocolate bars or sweets or any items containing nuts. We encourage children to drink water throughout the day.

Special Diets and Allergies

If your child has food allergies or specific dietary needs, please inform the school office as soon as possible. Our catering team works closely with us to provide safe and suitable alternatives for children with medical or cultural dietary requirements.

If you have any questions about school meals, packed lunches or your child’s dietary needs, please contact the school office. We’re here to help make mealtimes healthy, happy and safe for everyone.
