iShare Learning Themes

Each half term we will all be sharing our learning on a theme throughout the school in our worship times and in our classes and through some iShare buddy activities with our Christ Church Chums.  Each theme will be underpinned with a Bible verse worth knowing!

Autumn 1 - Living on Purpose

Supporting Bible Verse

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8v28

Objectives

  • God wants the best for us in our lives as we seek to follow Him
  • God has a purpose for each of our lives, and we should make it a goal to live 'purposefully'

  • We all have gifts, talents and a personality that God has given us that we should use to be fully the person that God wants us to be

  • Living as God intended for us to live will benefit those around us too!

Autumn 2 - Peace be with You

Supporting Bible Verse

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14v27

Objectives

  • God wants us to know His peace when we are upset or troubled

  • There are things we can do to help ourselves and others feel more peaceful

  • We are all called to be peacemakers with each other

  • Where there is war in the world or conflict in our lives, we can pray to God to bring His peace

Spring 1 - Hopes and Dreams

Supporting Bible Verse

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29v11

Objectives

  • God knows and cares about our future; we can pray to him about our hopes and dreams.

  • At the beginning of a new year, it is a good time to reflect on our hopes and dreams for our lives, for our communities and for the world we live in.

  • Our hopes and dreams are important and we should not be afraid to pray about them, follow them and share them with each other.

  • We should pray for others who find themselves in difficult or hopeless situations and see what we can do help them persevere and carry on.

Spring 2 - Tough Times

Supporting Bible Verse

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go

 Joshua 1v9

Objectives

  • Sometimes we have difficult times in our lives and feel sad, angry or lonely; these feelings are common to everybody.

  • We may know people going through tough times and we can pray for them and do something kind to help.

  • Jesus himself knew tough times and he prayed to God to help him and give him strength and wisdom; we can do the same.

  • Christians take strength from knowing God is with them whatever is happening and however they feel.

Summer 1 - Our World Around Us

Supporting Bible Verse

The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.

Psalm 24 v1

Objectives

  • God has created a wonderful world for us to live in; we should take time to appreciate it.

  • It is our responsibility to pray for and look after the world God has given us and there are many ways we can do this.

  • There are many different people groups and cultures in the world; we should respect all cultures and celebrate differences.

Summer 2 - All Change

Supporting Bible Verse

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Matthew 6vv33-34

Objectives

  • Everything changes in life, but knowing that God's love remains the same can help us deal with change well.

  • Christians trust God for their future, which gives courage when anticipating changes.

  • Some changes are good, some are difficult, but the Bible says not to worry, but trust God.

Christ Church Chums

We have partnered year groups so that the juniors can form close links with the infants and the infants will see many familiar faces as they transfer to the juniors. Children are the younger chum from Year 1 to Year 3, they are then the older chum from Year 4 to Year 6.

Children should retain the same chum as they journey through school. The paired classes will meet together each half term to enjoy an iShare Buddies activity, based on our iShare Learning worship themes. This is an excellent opportunity for the older children to act as mentors and teachers to the younger ones. Children will also be invited to see their chums’ performances and other special events.
