Christ Church New Malden

Christ Church New Malden Primary School is a Voluntary Aided School with a strong Christian ethos. We are closely linked to Christ Church and its sister church St John’s. Every Wednesday, the vicar, Rev. Stephen Kuhrt, or youth worker, Nathan Larkin, leads collective worship at school.

Four times a year the whole school comes together for a service at church. Each service is led by a year group:

  • Harvest: Years 3 and 4

  • Christmas: Years 1 and 2

  • Easter: Year 5

  • End of Year: Year 6

The services, which also welcome parents and other members of the school and local community, are a wonderful way to join with the church to celebrate God’s goodness to us.

Once a term, Christ Church host a prayer meeting for people who want to pray for the school. Led by Rev. Stephen Kuhrt, these meetings bring together parents, staff, governors, church members and former pupils.

Governors from Christ Church and St John’s form the majority of our Governing body.

Insight

Insight is a Christian Schools Work Trust that run an after school club, Good News Club, at the Junior site once a week. The club provides a fun forum for children to take part in many activities like playing games, drama, craft, learning memory verses, quizzes, singing and listening to a story from the Bible. Insight also organise the Christmas Journey for Year 2 and the Easter Journey for Year 5. Both at New Malden Baptist Church, these events bring to life the events of Easter and Christmas through dramatic encounters with some of the people involved.  To find out more about Insight, please visit their website

Open the Book

One of the highlights of each week's collective worship is when Open the Book come to share that week's Bible story. Open the Book are a group of Christians from local churches who bring to life a Bible story, with the children taking on different roles every week.
